Here's a list of SNES RPG ROMS which some are untraceable! For
each game there's a number of stars
which represents the general impression of the game and a mark in percentage.
The 7th Saga : a simple game with simple graphics and simple music. All is
simple in this game and the it's not very easy to play. To talk someone,
you must stop, push A button so that a menu displays and finally you must
select Talk. A bit complicated, isn't it?
For: a rather simple
game.
Against: an obvious lack of harmony as well on the level of
the colors as of the music. The game is not very much playable and is not as
good as Enix games which are usually better. Mark: 50%. Need

Alcahest (J):
Edited by Square and HAL, I sometimes wonder if
Square really participated in the creation of this game!!
Combats are really weird, graphics are not very good
(for 1993 they could have been much better). But when
we hear the music, we can see that Square was there!
Arcana
( Cardmaster
in Japan): This game is quite old but Magic or ADD (Advanced Dugeon &
Dragon for those which do not know) players might be delightful by this game. Be
carreful because you can be killed during the first dispute with people of the village! It should be
noticed that the music (or OST as Original SoundTrack) is not too
ugly.
For: music and the general environment of this game,
dialogues which can vary according to your choice.
Against: the
jouability is bad and it is difficult to be located and to know where we are. The progression image by
image as in Fester Quest on NES (for those which know) is really
unbearable.
Bahamut Lagoon
: an excellent RPG made by Squaresoft. For some people, it is
the best RPG. The music is remarkable and graphics are very nice. For those who
think the fights in traditional RPG (Final Fantasy) are too fast, this
strategy RPG game is for you. Indeed, you have as much time as you want to choose your
attacks, to move your players where you wish and you quietly can pofiner
your attacks.
For: very strategic mode of combat, OST (Original
SoundTrack or music) really magic, beautiful graphics. The environment of
the play is very involving.
Against: slowness of the combat but
that can be liked by some people.
Breath of Fire: published by Squaresoft (of which the name was deleted in Game Boy Advance
version) and Capcom, this RPG is of a completely honourable
level. Its classicism and its lack of originality disadvantage this game
which could have been better.
For: Traditional RPG.
Against:
in the music, we recognize
Capcom's style which, one must recognize it, will never be as good as Squaresoft.
Capcom's style goes well for Street Fighter 2 or Megaman but not at all for a RPG. Only the music
Overworld 1 is appropriate.
BS Zelda
: the adaptation of the
version Nintendo (NES) but it is much shorter and easier than the original
version. Those which found version NES too hard will be filled. Graphics and
music have also been renewed.
For : Zelda
re-examinated with improved graphics.
Against : game too much
easy,
music could have been better, much of plans were removed what reduces even
more the game's lifespan.
Chrono Trigger : An excellent RPG with very beautiful
graphics and with an history that will impress you. You incarner a young boy named
Crono whose friend Lucca is inventor. She presents her very new invention
at the fair: a teleportor. At the fair, Crono meets a dazed girl, Marle after a collision. The girl joins then, with Crono,
they
attend the presentation. Marle which is very curious decides to go voluntary to
test the teleportor but its collar seems to cause a disordered state of the
machine and the poor girl is sent into a vortex. Crono, on a heroic dash plunges in
the vortex. It is there that your adventure starts, an enthralling
adventure. During your tour, you will meet other characters coming from
various times. This play is very fascinating.
